CBCT Scan (Cone Beam CT Scan)

Seeing Is Succeeding

Before you can enjoy the comfort and durability of your dental implants, there’s a lot of planning and preparation that has to happen behind the scenes.

From figuring out whether you have the right amount of bone in your jaws to determine the best position for each implant, it’s all about understanding how to make your procedure as safe and effective as possible.

A CBCT scan gives us a complete, three-dimensional picture of your teeth, jaws, and mouth. That gives us more information to prepare for your dental implant procedure, so you can enjoy the benefits of surgery that’s faster, safer, and less invasive.

Our Process In 5 Easy Steps

Step 1 — Get your consultation.

This is where you’ll learn more about what a CBCT scan involves and how it can support your dental implant procedure. If you decide to get a scan, we’ll also ask you some health questions – like whether you’re pregnant, for example – so we can prepare the appropriate safety measures.

During your consultation, we’ll explain what you can expect during the scan and how it helps us make your dental implant procedure smoother and safer. We’ll also ask you some health questions so we can prepare any extra safety measures before your scan.

Step 2 — Schedule your CBCT scan.

If you’d like to support your dental implant procedure with a CBCT scan, you can book an appointment with your dentist during the consultation or after you go home. You won’t need to do anything before your scan – it’s quick and easy, usually taking 30 minutes or less.

Step 3 — Come in and get ready for your scan.

After you get to the clinic, we’ll give you a quick overview of how the scan will work. From there, we’ll start preparing you for the scan, which just involves putting on a shielding vest and removing any metal objects like glasses or jewelry that you might be wearing.

Step 4 — Get your CBCT scan.

Next up – the scan itself! We’ll help you get correctly positioned in the machine’s scanning area so that your body and head are in the correct position. Then you’ll just need to stand still for about 10 seconds while the scanning arm rotates around your head.

Step 5 — Go over the results.

After your scan is complete, the information will be sent to a nearby computer, where we’ll sit down with you to review your results. Using your scan, we’ll be able to tell you if you need more dental work (like a bone graft) or if you’re ready to start the process of getting dental implants.
